BASIC RULES OF

GRAMMAR !!!

SUBJECT = The person or things in a sentence that does the


action.
Example : My father mailed the letter yesterday.
PREDICATE = The part of the sentence that contains the action
(verb)
Example : My sister and I walked after school.
OBJECT = the person or things affected by the action of the
subject .
Example : The baby drank her milk
SENTENCE = a group of words that makes sense all by itself. A
sentence always begins with capital letter, ends with punctuation
mark and contains a subject and a predicate.
Example : The brown dog chased the ball
SIMPLE SENTENCE = A sentence with one subject and one
predicate.
Example : the flower is beautiful.
- A simple sentence can also have a prural subject and/ or a
prural predicate.
Example : Prural subject : Some friends go to the store
Prural predicator : the dog jumped and barked.
COMPOUND SENTENCE = a sentence containing two or more simple
sentence, joined together by comma or conjunction.
Example : I like to ride my bike and play with my dog.

COMPLEX SENTENCE = a sentence consisting of two sentences joined


together in a way that one sentence explain the other.
Example : I ate my lunch because i was hungry
