Jokowi Inauguration
Our new president, Joko Widodo, was inaugurated on Monday, 20 October 2014. This hot
topic was spread everywhere, until the hashtag #PresidenJokowi was trending on the social media
site, Twitter. The words Jalesveva Jayamahe was also trending on the site, which is the Sanskrit
for In the sea, we will triumph, which was also stated by the new president during his
inauguration. Jokowis inauguration was also known as the biggest inauguration celebration to
occur in Indonesia. Fans and supporters of the latter were crowding the traffic circle in front of
Hotel Indonesia in Thamrin. Usually, changing of presidents in Indonesia would cause such violent
democratic acts along the streets, but instead, the Indonesians are celebrating with posters, banners,
and a huge concert.
The president is also famous for his down-to-earth personality and the way that he likes to
interact with the citizens around him when he was still a governor for Jakarta. Many people were
very excited and thrilled to see Jokowis work for the next five years as they have heard about the
new presidents ambitious goals. He said that unity and working hand in hand are prerequisites for
us to be a great nation. We will never become a great nation if we are stuck with division." Most of
the politicians in Indonesia are very amazed by how Jokowi climbed up to the top of the mountain
so quickly, but some of them, for example, Achmad Sukarsono, said that he wasnt as powerful as
the other politicians who are already on the top hierarchy of Indonesias politics. Jokowi once more
convinced the people of Indonesia that he could change Indonesia into a better country, as long as
he has the supports and the funds to do so.
