Summary of text 3: Language- Is It Always Spoken?

Dr. Petitto believes that deaf babies can develop their language without learning
through speech. Normal babies learn language by hearing and babbling to develop
speech system while deaf babies develop their sign language through repeating same
hand movements, forming simple hand signs to develop sign system. Thus, Dr. Petitto
concludes language can be expressed in many ways; unnecessarily have to be spoken
language. Besides, babies with one hearing parent and one deaf parent can develop
bath spoken and signed language simultaneously.
