Parameter Description

3G Direct Tunnel (3GDT) reduces the payload traffic through

the SGSN by transporting the user traffic outside the SGSN,
between the Gateway GPRS Support Node (GGSN) and
Radio Network Controller (RNC) directly
Access Aware Core Edge allows the SGSN to forward
access-related information about a subscriber to the GGSN,
in order to allow differentiation of services and charging
schemes
Access Restriction allows for restricting access to GSM or
WCDMA Systems on a per-subscriber basis by settings in
the HLR
Authentication of Stationary Subscribers allows periodic
authentication of stationary subscribers. This increases both
the protection from cloning and the level of confidentiality
of the stationary subscriber's user data. A stationary
subscriber is a subs

configuration and activation of services by letting the SGSN
initiate a device configuration procedure for new or
unconfigured MSs using GPRS for GSM.
ADD fully automates configuration and activation of services
by letting the SGSN initiate a device configuration
procedure for new or unconfigured MSs using GPRS for
WCDMA Systems.
APN Redirection provides replacing the incorrect APNs in the
MS, at Create PDP Context Request, by the SGSN default
APN or the only subscribed APN.
APN Resolution Functional Extension provides connecting an
MS to a specified GGSN based on the MSISDN and a
configured common APN.
Configurable GEA2/GEA3 Ciphering enables the SGSN to
handle flexible and independent configuration of GEA1,
GEA2, and GEA3.

Conversational QoS enables configuration of the conversation class when configuring QoS. For more information, see Quality of Service. For statistical purpo
Compression on the Gb interface may improve the
throughput on the radio interface.
Detach of Inactive Subscribers GSM allows detaching of
inactive subscribers from the SGSN for GSM, thereby
freeing capacity.
Detach of Inactive Subscribers Dual Access allows detaching
of inactive subscribers from the SGSN for Dual Access,
thereby freeing capacity
Detach of Inactive Subscribers WCDMA allows detaching of
inactive subscribers from the SGSN for WCDMA systems,
thereby freeing capacity.
Dual Access enables the SGSNs to simultaneously handle
GSM and WCDMA Systems subscribers. The Dual Access
SGSNs can attach and activate PDP contexts, and negotiate
throughput capacity regardless of GSM or WCDMA.

Dual Transfer Mode enables GPRS class B MSs to transfer

both voice over the CS network and data over the PS
network simultaneously
EDGE Support gives support for Enhanced Data rates for
Global Evolution (EDGE) in the GSM and GPRS network.
Enhanced Uplink Support sets the capacity limit to 4, which
is the Extended Uplink Support Capacity Limit capacity
license value.
Enhanced Uplink Support, Expansion 1 sets the capacity
limit to 8, which is the Extended Uplink Support Capacity
Limit capacity license value. If no additional Enhanced
Uplink Support is purchased, the license value is 2 by
default.
Event Based Statistics (EBS) for OSS-RC enables logging, of
both successful and unsuccessful signaling events,
formatted according to logging criteria. The formatted event
information is used to build the log file, which is collected
periodically by the O
Gb over IP introduces the possibility to use User Datagram
Protocol (UDP) over IP as bearer over the Gb interface
GGSN Black Listing provides excepting a GGSN if it does not
respond to a Create PDP Context Request message, after
Gn_N3-RequestsCreate number of attempts. The MS is
redirected if there is another GGSN configured for the APN,
otherwise no connection is es
GTP User Location IE includes the additional User Location
Information IE in the Create PDP Context Request and
Update PDP Context Request messages to the GGSN.
High-Speed Downlink Packet Access (HSDPA) Support
provides improved data rates for the end user. HSDPA is
useful for applications such as audio or video download and
file transfer.
HSDPA Support Expansion 1 supports maximum bit rates of
up to 8 Mbps
HSDPA Support Expansion 2 supports maximum bit rates of
up to 16 Mbps.
The Gf interface provides means for controlling the access
to the network for specific MS equipment. The IMEI Check
can be used for discouraging theft of mobile equipment.
Integrated Traffic Capturing (ITC) simplifies troubleshooting
of traffic related faults by capturing traffic on the Gb, Gn,
and Iu-U interfaces.
Inter-BSC NACC allows the BSS to assist a GPRS terminal at
cell reselection while in packet transfer mode. This
significantly reduces the service outage time. The Inter-BSC
NACC feature provides support for subscribers roaming
between BSCs.
IPsec for Secure Network Traffic enables secure
transmission between SGSNs and between SGSNs and
GGSNs. It can also be used to secure the link between the
SGSNs and the Element/Network Management systems, or
for Lawful Interception (LI) purposes.

IPv6 User Plane provides support for PDP contexts of the

type IPv6, and for transport of IPv6 end-user data over the
GPRS user plane.
LI allows Law Enforcement Agencies to access GPRS-related
information about the activities of GPRS subscribers and
their user data.
Load-Based Handover enables an RNC to trigger an IRAT PS
handover from WCDMA Systems to GSM.
Manual Purge of PDP contexts triggers a reactivation of
hanging PDP contexts when a path failure to a GGSN has
been detected
MBMS: Broadcast Services enables broadcast services in
the WCDMA Systems radio network for streaming
applications, for example, broadcast of TV channels and
background applications such as downloading of files.
Misconfigured MT Identification provides logging of both
PDP context requests rejected with cause code #33 and of
missing or unknown APNs replaced due to the licensecontrolled feature APN Redirection, if it is active.
Multiple Public Land Mobile Network (PLMN) Support allows
up to 10 PLMNs to share the same SGSN.
MOCN allows two or more operators to share a common
radio network, while maintaining separate core networks,
Near Real-Time Provision of CDRs renders possible the
output of Charging Data Records (CDRs) to the charging
gateway or billing system within 30 seconds after
generation in the SGSN.
Non 3GPP Compliant UEs handles terminal-related faults
related to non-3GPP compliance in the optional Information
Elements (IEs) fields, makes it possible to selectively turn
off optional IEs in messages without affecting the 3GPP
compliant handsets, and
Operator QoS Control enables QoS to be negotiated using
policies. This can improve utilization of network resources
and is a way to ensure that a service uses an appropriate
bandwidth.
Positioning enables external clients to get MS location data
from the PLMN by connecting to a Gateway Mobile Location
Centre (GMLC). Only the current Cell Global Identity (CGI)
or Service Area Identifier (SAI) are sent as location data for
GSM and WCDMA S
PS Handover / IRAT PS Handover provides intra-SGSN
Packet-Switched (PS) handover, inter-SGSN PS handover,
and inter-Radio Access Technology (IRAT) PS handover, that
is, handover between different radio access networks, for
example, GSM to WCDMA Systems.
Prioritization of Payload Users improves the service
availability for active subscribers after an SGSN restart.
Activation of payload traffic, PDP contexts, and Short
Message Service (SMS) are given higher priority than other
types of subscriber activitie
Packet Flow Control per Packet Flow Context (PFC) makes
the BSS an integral part of QoS provisioning by involving
the BSS in QoS negotiations.

QoS Based on IMSI Series enables the network to set the

highest possible QoS profile for a visiting subscriber
belonging to a defined IMSI number series.
Real-Time Charging Control Using CAMEL supports real-time
monitoring of PDP contexts both in the HPLMN and when
roaming into a visited PLMN.
Redirection of MO-SMS enables the SGSN to redirect Mobile
Originated Short Message Service (MO-SMS) message
transfers from home subscribers to a configured Short
Message Service Center (SMSC), and ignore the SMSC
requested by the MS. An MO-SMS transfer fr
Roaming Restrictions enables the SGSN to restrict the
access for certain subscribers in a Location Area (LA).
S-CDR Cause Code Extension provides adding cause codes
received from the BSC and RNC to the S-CDR, if a PDP
context is deactivated and the CDR is closed.
Secondary PDP Context enables for a subscriber to have
multiple active PDP contexts using one single IP address
and one Access Point Name (APN).
The main purpose of Selective Equivalent PLMN is to steer
the MS into selecting a PLMN network within the shared
network group of networks at cell selection and cell
reselection.
