I have started to learn the way the agency is
structured and have begun discussing
hypothetical situations, practical concerns,
and real cases with appropriate staff in
order to learn the standard responses to
standard calls.

I assisted a family (2 sisters)


with finding local resources for
housing. The report was
inappropriate for APS, but my
knowledge base and
experience in the field and
region allowed me to assist
confidently.
Staffed intake calls; often
discussing appropriate
services.

and written communication in
working with individuals,
families, groups,
organizations, communities,
and colleagues.

I have answered and accepted


intake calls on the abuse
hotline. The reporters have
ranged from out-of-state
potential grandmothers to
school social workers and local
law enforcement. In cases
where there is not a
professional on the line, I have
to redirect the flow of
conversation while
maintaining empathy.
