Moore County DSS

Tanya Haislip

Mission
To promote quality of life,
dignity, and respect for all
citizens of Moore County
through excellence in social
and economic service
provision, community
education, and resource
development.

Values & Ethics

The goals of MCDSS include providing
services with respect to the individual
family, kin, friend, and community
network, acknowledging families as
experts in their own situations,
promoting families generating their
own solutions to problems, and
participating in planning and decision
making.

Need
MCDSS is severely understaffed. There have
been 23 individuals leave the agency in the last
year, and only about 6 hired. The primary need
for this agency, other than staff in general, is
individuals that can run intake.

Need
An additional need that I have identified, although current staff seems to
be accepting of the current system, is a more efficient
recording/documentation system.
Reports come in and a printed copy is taken to the SWS for screening.
If accepted, an additional copy is paired with paper face sheets and delivered
to the initiating SW. Also to the assigned SW if different. A scanned copy is
delivered electronically to the SWS.
The original copy of the report is then filed chronologically and by status
(CPS or APS, then Accepted or Not Accepted)
At the end of the month, all cases are scanned to an online database and
shredded.
The assigned worker works the case, and adds paper copies of all
documentation throughout the case.
At the close of the case, all pages are scanned to a central database and
shredded.

Future Direction
Created a Strategic Plan for the Agency to
improve services, training, employee retention,
collaboration within and without the agency, and
efficiency.
