HIGHWAY
49
As you may know, I have two loves: education in the Delta and traveling.
With Spring Break right around the corner, I have booked a trip back to Africa
for the week. However after looking at our data, Im feeling a bit down. I am
afraid that many of our students dont know where they stand in regards to
their goals, and many teachers may not know what students need to be
learning.
So, I have come to the conclusion that I cant go on my trip unless we are
100% progress known to our goals by March. Otherwise, I will need to use
the week to solely focus on problem solving around this. Judging by the
tracker, we have slacked on data this month. Many of us have a set plan to
enter in our data, but we need to make it happen.
I really want to focus our efforts to knowing where we are and where we are
going. If you need someone to help grade lets do it. If you need company
while figuring out a tracker lets do it. If you just need a cookie I can do
that too, but in all seriousness we need to get this done.

Data
Im putting my money where my mouth is and putting my faith in you to get us
where we need to be. As you saw, no data, no trip. We have less than a month.
Whatever you need to
get this done, I want to help you get it.

From Vaish Shastry (Sunflower County Freedom Project)
Hello comrades, I hope you are all doing well. I have two favorite places in
the Delta:
1 Delta Meat Market Happy Hour (Fridays at 5ish pm): between the music
and the excellent beer and the necessity for me to decompress on
Friday evenings, the DMM has become my happy place to catch up
with friends and chow down on delicious food. Highly recommend it.
2 Sitting in the Alluvian lounge. I didnt say drinking at the bar because
honestly, thats so expensive to keep having drinks there. But! It is
cost-effective to drink a beer and sit in the lounge and again,
decompress. There is a theme of de-stressing here, which I think we
can all agree is a necessity.
3 I said two, but I also enjoy the drive on 49S towards Jackson. I know
thats not exactly the Delta, but after living here for 4+ years, it is
incredible to go from the alluvial plain to the rolling hills and kudzu to
the big city of Jackson in less than 1.5 hours. Put on a good album and
enjoy the drive and reminding yourself that this state is crazy and
strange, but also wonderful and truly beautiful.
