LakanBini: Breaking Gender Barriers


UP College of Veterinary Medicine Student Council

Guidelines/Mechanics:
1. Each batch will have two (2) representatives, one (1) heterosexual MALE and one (1)
heterosexual FEMALE. Albeit, the council believes in the perspectives of gender fairness, the
council would like to emphasize the very essence of the theme, Breaking gender barriers by
putting the shoes of those who belong to LGBT to those who are politically termed as
heterosexual.
2. These batches include batch 2014, 2013, 2012, 2011, 2010, 2009 & up, and Foreign students.
3. Male contestants will take the role of the female into feminine character and female
contestants will take the role of the male into masculine character. The characters to be
portrayed should strongly manifest the theme Breaking gender barriers by showing the
following:
a. That female is not ideally slim and demure.
b. That male is not ideally muscular and manly.
c. That both female and male can wear clothes regardless of the societys status quo when
it comes to clothing.
4. The different attires to be worn of the male and female:
a. Sports Wear
b. Casual Wear
c. Formal Wear
5. Contestants will present their talents with a maximum of 4 minutes for the male and female
contestants of each batch. The contestants may opt to perform together or alone. There will be
a deduction of one vote per second when they exceed the maximum time they are allowed to
perform.
6. Only 2 assistants per contestant are allowed in the dressing room to avoid overcrowding.
7. The expenses (make-up, costumes, formal attire, etc.) for the contestants will be shouldered/
contributed by their respective batches.
8. Each contestant should prepare a witty name and kasabihan. Whenever possible, align the
kasabihan to the theme.
9. Photo shoot will be on February 23 with a theme of Lakanbini: Breaking Gender Barriers.
10. There will be also a piso sheet per contestant to determine the Peoples Choice. Only a limited
number of sheets will be provided by the council, but each batch will be allowed to reproduce
the sheets. Piso sheet voting will be from the date of release of photos up to the time the
council will set on the awarding night.

Criterias for Judging:


Theme relevance-55%
a. Wit- 25%
b. Personality (Poise, Confidence)- 30%
Attire- 15%
Audience Impact-20%
Talent-10%
