NanoMedicine

by John Nguyen and Peter Tang

NanoMedicine?
-Medical application of nanotechnology.
-Treatment for repairing or destroying disease cells.
-Uses nano-tools (Smart nanoparticles), to treat single cells
-Currently Developing because of problems, such as
toxicity.

NanoTechnology
-Engineering, to design, building nanorobots.
-Creating machines at scale of nanometer.
-programmable nanoparticles can seek out certain cells.

Cancer Cells
-Damaged or altered DNA in cells create mutations known
as cancer cells.
-Some don't die when supposed to.
-Doesn't stop reproducing, making tumors.

Drug Delivery
-Nanoparticles contains special RNA, has drug, attracted to
cancer cells.
-Nanoparticles attach to receptor of cell and inserts drug.
-Drug bypass membrane, kill or cure cancer cell.
-Acts like a virus, but can't replicate.

Benefits
-Reduce overexposure to drugs.
-Can help cure cancer, but still in development.
-Can expand new ways of medicine, tools, and drug
deliver.
-Effective way to apply drugs into cells.
-Save lives.
