Serbian Ritual Lyrics of the Spring

and Summer cycle
Summary
Serbian ritual poetry is very old. There are some legacies from Middle Age. It is
the most numerous subject of calendar cycles because of spring and summer rituals
which are usually followed by singing.
Processes of Christianity had influences so they change under the migrations
and cultural terms, but their disappearance is under the interruption of ritual accep
tations as a result, and consequence of statutory prohibitions of rituals out of church
since 1947< it should be also included the education of youth which are leaving vil
lages as well as the electronic media.
Serbian ritual lyric poetry of spring and summer cycles does not exist everywhe
re equally. KRALJICE and LAZARICE are not usual where Dinaras population is
dominant by the origin or by the result of migrations to the Western Serbia, West of
river Drina, ancient Montenegro, Boka gulf, ancient Hercegovina and Brdo where
there is not interferential with Eastern and Southern immigration streams which are
very fond of that poetry.
Ritual lyric poetry is wealthier at eastern and southern parts of Serbia but not
at west Serbia, east Herzegovina, Semberia, Bosnian provinces former Military pro
vinces.
Serbian traditional rustic ritual kinds of poetry are influenced by Orthodox
Church, spiritual institutions, and civic culture since the second part of 19th cen
tury; also the atheistic ideology had bad influence in the second part of 20th century
when ritual poetry almost disappeared.
