Reuel Molina Aguila

Reuel Molina Aguila (born 27 September 1953) is a Filipino poet, playwright, essayist, lyricist
and scriptwriter. For his works, which are entirely in Filipino, he has received numerous awards,
including but not limited to Dangal ng Wikang Filipino, Makata ng Taon (2008), Manananaysay
ng Taon (2007), Life-time Achievement-Gawad Pambansang Alagad ni Balagtas (2004) and
ten Palanca Awards in different categories, which qualified him for the Palanca Hall of Fame,
into which he was inducted in 2009. He teaches creative writing at the University of the
Philippines, Diliman.

Education
Aguila graduated from the Ramon Magsaysay Cubao High School in 1970. He took up his
undergraduate degree in Filipino and master's degree in malikhang pagsulat(creative writing) at
the University of the Philippines, Diliman. In 2012, he finished his doctoral degree at the same
university.

Works
Aguila wrote the script for the Behn Cervantes films Sakada (1976) and Bawal na Pagibig (1977), and Lino Brocka's In this Corner (1979). He also worked for television, serving as
the head writer of the popular ABS-CBN children's program Bayani from 1995 to 1998.
Similarly, he was the scriptwriter for Radio Mindanao Network from 2003 to 2004 and Radio
Balintataw, DZRH in 2001.
In 1987, he served as the editor of the nationalist anthologies Kamao I, Kamao II and Kamao III.
He worked in the same capacity on the literary anthology Gatilyo, which was published in 1989.
Since 2007, he has been a columnist for One Philippines, a fortnightly newspaper published in
the United States.
Aguila has published several of his works into books. Among these are Ligalig at Iba Pang
Dula, Ampalaya, Bonsai, Atbp, Magdaragat ng Pag-ibig and Iba Pang Tula ng Pagnanasa.

Work experience
Aguila has traveled abroad for his literary pursuits. In 1983, he attended the International Writing
Program in Iowa, USA as a representative of the Philippines. He spent time in Monbusho and
Osaka, Japan as a research scholar from 1987 to 1989.
He had his first brush with teaching in 1976 upon joining the faculty of the Philippine Science
High School as an English teacher. He taught at the school until 1979, moving on to
the University of the Philippines (UP) to teach Filipino the following year. He taught in UP for
two years, leaving in 1982. He returned in 1985, only to leave again after a year. In 2000, he
resumed his academic career in UP and has not left since.
Kasama si Dr. Jimmuel Naval, itinaguyod nila ni Aguila ang Palihang Rogelio Sicat na unang
isinagawa sa Angono, Rizal at noo'y tinawag pang Palihang DFPP (Departamento ng Wikang
Filipino at Panitikan ng Pilipinas). Sa kasalukyan, isa ang Palihang Rogelio Sicat sa mga
nangungunang palihang nagbibigay ng pagkakataon para paghusayin ang sining sa pagsulat sa
wikang Filipino ng mga manunulat mula sa iba't ibang panig ng bansa.

Nobela
Ang nobela, akdang-buhay o kathambuhay[1] ay isang mahabang kuwentong piksiyon na
binubuo ng iba't ibang kabanata. Mayroon itong 60,000-200,000 salita o 300-1,300pahina.
Noong ika-18 siglo, naging istilo nito ang lumang pag-ibig at naging bahagi ng mga
pangunahing henerong pampanitikan. Ngayon, ito ay kadalasan may istilong artistikoat isang
tiyak na istilo o maraming tiyak na istilo.

Kahulugan
Mahabang makathang pampanitikan na naglalahad ng mga pangyayari na pinaghahabi sa isang
mahusay na pagbabalangkas na ang pinakapangunahing sangkap ay ang pagkakalabas ng
hangarin ng bayani sa dako at ng hangarin ng katunggali sa kabila -isang makasining na
pagsasalaysay ng maraming pangyayaring magkasunod at magkakaugnay. Ang mga
pangyayaring ito ay may kanya-kanyang tungkuling ginagampanan sa pagbuo ng isang matibay
at kawili-wiling balangkas na siyang pinakabuod ng nobela.
