Letter of Recommendation for Katherine Wills-Wri ht

It is a great pleasure to recommend Katherine Wills-Wright for a teaching position.

I met Katie in August 2013 when I was co-teaching our graduate workshop on
teaching. She was then one of six graduate assistants worked with me in a survey
class in American History, 1492-1877. (She was also one of twelve students in my
graduate seminar in Early American History.)
As a graduate assistant, Katie was responsible for weekly meetings of two sections
(roughly twenty students each). She developed lesson plans, ran her own classes,
held office hours, and graded assignments, several of which she designed herself.
She met with me regularly, including weekly meetings with the other graduate
assistants. I also observed one of her classes.
Katie's background in teacher education was a boon to us all. Her mixture of
enthusiasm and expertise did much to improve the quality of the course as a whole
as well as the morale of those of us teaching. Katie was thoroughly reliable. I could
always count on her to do what she said she would do-and on time. I was
particularly impressed with her willingness to work with students. She was tough
but eager to help them improve. Her class was expertly organized and efficiently
run; she had excellent rapport with her students.
I was very sorry that Katie was not on my teaching team in the spring. I not only
enjoyed working with her, I learned from her.
I recommend Katie with enthusiasm. I hope you can offer her a position. You, and
especially your students, will be very glad you did.
Feel free to contact me if you need further information.
