Recommendation for Ms. Katherine Foreman

I have only known Ms. Katie Foreman since last August, but few students have made
such a positive impression in such a short time! Last fall, she was a student in my
HIS 444 History of American Education course as well as my SSC 331 Secondary
Social Studies Methods course. She was THE outstanding student in both courses.
She earned an A in both, entirely consistent with her remarkable 3.9 overall GPA.
Katie combines her amazing academic and intellectual abilities with an unflagging
enthusiasm and cheerfulness. Her work is always completed on time and of
exemplary quality. She checks in regularly after class or during office hours to get
clarification on assignments but does not demand hand-holding or emotional
support. If she is a perfectionist, she doesn’t show it. Instead, she offers her peers
clarification and emotional support and serves as a model of thoughtful
participation in and outside of class. Her technical skills are exemplary, too. She
explores the best medium to communicate her message and produced a very
impressive lesson plan for her final project in the history class. She is committed to
becoming the best teacher she can be.
I am supremely confident that she will serve as a valuable asset in your school. She
understands the need to provide intellectual rigor with appropriate scaffolding. She
understands the need to build relationships with students in order to find the
strategies that will motivate them to do well. She understands the need for
flexibility and experimentation during this COVID crisis and far beyond. She is a
people person who has honed her organizational and collaborative skills outside the
classroom with her membership in three Greek societies.
Please consider Ms. Foreman for a social studies teaching position at either the
middle school or high school level. I will be most eager to answer any additional
questions you might have if you email me at kgedge@wcupa.edu or call my office
phone number 610-436-2971. She has my most enthusiastic support!
