1.)What religious tensions existed in Yugoslavia pre-and during World War II?
The religions in Yugoslavia before and during World War II include:
Muslim, Roman Catholic, Eastern Orthodox and many different
variations of Christianity.

2.)Why was Tito important in Yugoslavia? Because he led Yugoslavia from


1945 to 1980 and held the Country together. After he died, ethnic
resentments boiled over and many Serbs opposed the new leader
and his methods, Slobodan Milosevic.

3.)What were Milosevics goals in Yugoslavia? He wanted to get rid of all the
Muslims and the Croats because they were a threat to him.

4.)Who did Serbian nationalists target in the Bosnian genocide? Serbian


nationalists targeted Muslims in the Bosnian genocide.

5.)What happened in Srebrenica? The Srebrenica Massacre or a.k.a the


Serbian genocide. Mass amounts of Serbs were wiped out and
killed during this time (mostly Muslims).

6.)What does this incident suggestion about European leadership and the role of
the UN? The U.N refused to intervene and the E.U tried to mediate
(without success). It showed that they werent as powerful as they
thought they were (since their methods werent working).

7.) Who was responsible for eventual peace in Bosnia? The United States led
to eventual peace (with the help of President Bill Clinton).

8.)In your own words, describe ethnic cleansing. Its wiping out a group of
people due to their religion because you feel feared by them.

9.)How did the map of Bosnia look after 1995? Bosnia was divided into two
parts, the Croat-Muslim Federation and the Republic Srpska.

Describe 2 problems Bosnia is facing today. Displaced people and
refugees, Pro support of military intervention which leads people to
believe that war will always be the way to go.
