I am Rashed Islam and I was born on the 1st January, 1993. I was raised amongst a family that gave priority to the education
in the beautiful city Dhaka, economic capital of Bangladesh. My father is a government employer and my mother is a
housewife. I love my parents very much. Im very lucky to have good parents who give their best love to me .They give
me the best education and teach me some virtues such as the courage, confidence, optimism and so on.
In September, 2014 I have graduated from Khulna University of Engineering & Technology (KUET) with Bachelor of
Science (B.Sc.) in Electronics and Communication Engineering (ECE). During the four years of university, Ive taken a
lot of courses such as: Solid State electronics, Basic Electrical Engineering, Electrical Machines, Analog & Digital
Electronics, Analog & Digital Communications, Programming using C and C++, Computer Networks, Biomedical
Engineering, Telecommunication Engineering, Satellite Communication & Radar, and Optical Communications. At the
same time I took many other related courses which Im interested in and are helpful for the further academic study and
the future work.
My thesis work in final year of undergraduate study is related to Optical Access Network. With the help of my supervisor,
I successfully developed 5 types of Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (OFDM) in MATLAB environment and
analyzed electrical energy per bit to noise power ratio, spectral efficiency, power spectral density and peak to average
power ratio of those OFDM techniques. In the second phase, a co-simulation was established between MATLAB,
OPTISYSTEM & VPI Transmission Maker where the dispersion in the fiber optic suffered by those OFDM schemes
were measured followed by a proper equalization. Then, error vector magnitude was determined to find out the level of
spreading of data. In my graduation completion year, I participated in the 8th International Conference on Electrical and
Computer Engineering (ICECE), December, 2014. An article of my thesis activities titled Analysis of DCO-OFDM and
Flip-OFDM for IM/DD Optical-Wireless System has been published in this conference proceedings.
Therefore, I believe that a MS degree on Telecommunications Engineering from Korea is a great opportunity for me to
gain knowledge, build networks and establish long term working relationships with different Telecommunications
research groups and certainly this higher degree course will open prospects to work in various project engineering,
research, development and management in our country and international industries or public institutions.
I have chosen Korea for my graduate study because it provides quality education program. Besides, universities of higher
studies in Korea offer career focused up-to-date education. Future is always unpredictable but I assure you that I can make
myself dedicated in my study. I am confident that I would be able to complete MS program successfully if given the
opportunity.

Telecommunications Engineering, one of the high growth and challenging areas of research of this new era, is
exactly what made me a passionate devotee of engineering science and fortunately I have a background to
support my future study in this field. In pursuit of my dream, I have fixed my long-term study goals to be an
active researcher in the development, construction and operation of Telecommunications Network as well as a
pioneer of modern technology for new generations.
I want to engage myself with the leading research works on Telecommunications technology such as Long
Term Evolution Network, Optical Fiber Backbone Network etc. For advancing human race and the welfare of
the society, I am willing to involve myself in innovative research in academia or in industry by developing new
ideas and concepts through sharing knowledge and cooperation. In future, in state of art laboratories in Korean
universities, I would like to extend my previous work. I have taken simulation based approach in my
undergraduate study to determine the result of various loss effects on Orthogonal Frequency Division
Multiplexing (OFDM) signal propagation through fibers. In the upcoming days I would like to perform real
time experiments on this topic.

Future Plan

I am deeply interested in Telecommunications Engineering for understanding the fundamentals principles of

Communication Networks which will enable me to act in response positively to the demands created by future
changes in technology. This made me intended to apply the mentioned program. After getting opportunity to
join this program I will try my best to acquire the knowledge taught within the courses.

After successful completion of this Masters program I have a conviction to enroll the PhD program in the
same study field for gathering deep and extensive knowledge. This will provide excellent grounding for
developing my career in the fields of academic research, government projects in international contacts,
international organizations etc.
