Time to Protect

Our Bushland

Urban Encroachment
Every day, more and more trees around
Sydney are being chopped down.

The Natural
Environment Protected
S Additional protected national and
world heritage parks.
S New possum, wombats, and other
species walks; both over and beneath
roads.
S A reduced amount of roads and
better-planned roads without traffic
issues.

Urban Encroachment occurs when

rural or natural land is bulldozed to
make way for newly-built homes and
infrastructure. Urban Encroachment is a
major problem around Sydney and many
native animals, plants and ecosystems
are being adversely affected by human
activity.
We are increasing the amount of land
erosion and sedimentation. We are
losing important natural vegetation
which is home to native animals and
intricate ecosystems. We are biting off
more than we can chew, in other words,
we are cutting down too many trees at
once before they can even have time to
regrow or adapt to new conditions.

S More home extensions for extended

families, granny flats and garage lofts;
rather than land being cleared and
sold off for new homes.
S Extra bush regeneration areas around
infrastructure and buildings.
S Further warning signs about wildlife
around road networks.
