Design Brief for Multi-Purpose Hall

The multi-purpose hall is a covered facility that will be used for various
activities of the school. The facility may be used by a group as small as a
class of 35 students to as much as 500 people for school graduation or big
masses that include parents and friends of the school.
The following are more specific uses of the facility that we envision:
1. Sports activities [basketball, volleyball, futsal, badminton,
calisthenics, and parlor games like sack race, tug-o-war, and the
like]. These activities usually take place during Physical Education
classes which may take place simultaneously for as many as 3
classes.
2. Cultural Activities. The students also have school wide cultural
activities (that is, as many as 600 people at the same time) where
they showcase their talent through song, dance, or declamation.
This will require a stage with a sound system and sometimes stage
lights.
3. School Wide Masses. Every Saturday, school wide masses are
attended by around 400 students and 50 staff members and
visitors. We may sometimes have school wide masses that include
both senior and junior high school students and staff members
(special feasts & celebrations). These celebrations may have as
many as 900 people.
4. Graduation. Graduation exercises will require a stage, sound
system, and stage lights. The facility must seat comfortably, the
graduates (400), their parents (800), and school personnel (50) and
guests (50). The graduates may have others guests (800) which
may overflow into the sides of the facility.
5. Inter-School Competitions. Each year, the school holds activities
(sports, cultural, and cheering) with one other school. These
activities involve as much as 500-750 students.
6. Academic Competitions. The school may periodically hold
academic competitions which will involve teams of 3-5 students that
represent each class and 450 spectators (there are 3 or 4 classes
per year level; competitions are held on a year-level basis). Some
contests may be designed to involve the whole class.
