Fall Party

Spiders

We all celebrated the arrival of fall with a parade on

campus in our costumes
and a party. The students
looked adorable in their
costumes and everyone had
fun making crafts and
spending the day with their
friends.

Many students didnt like

spiders when we began
learning about them, but
by the end of the week, the
students gained a new appreciation for our eight
legged friends. It was a fun
week learning about these
amazing creatures. One
important fact the class
learned was to just look
and not touch because
some spiders can harm us.
We ended the week by
making a huge spider web
on the carpet and attempted to tip toe across without
touching the web. This
activity helped develop
gross motor skills.

Hibernation
Earlier this month the class
learned all about the many
animals that hibernate.
They learned about how an
animal prepares for
hibernation and the
changes in their body
during hibernation. A class
favorite was watching a
bear, Blackheart, hibernate
in a time lapse video on the
SMART Board. We also
were able to see her three
cubs that were born during
hibernation. The week
concluded with the
children's animals entering their den or their long
winter sleep.

Deer Valley Rock Art Center
Are you looking for something to do this weekend? Well, you dont have to go far. The Deer
Valley Rock Art Center has something for everyone. Its a museum, archaeological site and a
nature preserve so you will find a variety of natural
exhibits that showcase the beauty and
the history of the surrounding area. In class the child are learning about Native Americans and
here they can see how natives lived in our region. They have special activities this month in
honor of Thanksgiving.

Germs and Bookworms
Show your child the importance of hand washing, good hygiene, and ways to stay healthy! Get an up
close look at germs and share a fun story about a bookworm on an adventure. Each participant will
receive a free book from the Arizona Science Center.

Come enjoy a fun, hands on art class and learn how to make messy, slimy Gak! Children and parents will create their own scientific goop to take home and receive other recipes for messy activities
