Dear Zebra Families,

We had a nice and quiet, calm week before Thanksgiving. Our class has grown so much these past few weeks. They
know what is expected of them, and sometimes, they are ready for the next thing before we are. We’ve become
quite a close-knit family. They love each other so much, and we are so THANKFUL to have them in our class!

Our Friendsgiving Feast is tomorrow Monday the 23 rd. Thank you for bringing in items for our feast! Parent-teacher
conferences will be Friday, December the 4 th. If you haven’t done so already, please select a time on Sign Up Genius
that works best for you. We look forward to sharing all the wonderful things about your child.

Pick up time in the afternoons can be hectic and crazy. Please be sure to confirm with us that you’ve grabbed your
child. We definitely want to make sure your child is safe and is leaving with you!

Our Accomplishments:

Our focus this week was on Thanksgiving and being thankful. We talked about being happy for the things we have –
being thankful, and about gathering with family and friends to share a meal together.

It was a busy week in the sensory bin. We started the week with a popular Thanksgiving side – cranberries. The
children couldn’t get enough of straining the cranberries out of the water. Next, we added to our sensory bin fall,
Thanksgiving sink or float items: apples, acorn squash, persimmons, sticks, cones, and pebbles. Then the sensory bin
became a corn shaker factory where they funneled corn kernels into bottles and made corn shakers to take home.
Lastly, the bin was an apple pie factory, and the class used a rolling pin, pie pans, apples, cinnamon sticks, and oats to
make apple pie.

Our class also worked on a thankful tree. They shared with us some of the things they are thankful for, and we wrote
down their responses onto leaves. Some items included blueberries, watermelon, and turkey. We put heavy whipping
cream and salt into a jar, and the children took turns shaking the jar to make butter. We spread the butter onto some
crackers and tasted the rewards of our hard, earned work. Our class took a closer look at corn with a magnifying glass.
They enjoyed running their hands over the kernels, feeling the silk, and pulling the husk off.

The children got to practice setting the table by placing utensils, a plate, napkin, and cup where they belong on a
placemat. Wrapping playdough around a craft stick, they made corn on the cob by pressing corn kernels into the
playdough. Some of us turned corn on the cob into tortilla wraps! We also used playdough to make turkeys,
incorporating googly eyes and feathers. We learned a lot about Thanksgiving and being thankful this week through
working with turkeys and Thanksgiving foods!
