Kindergarten news
We have had another great week in
Kindergarten! This week we used the
story Chicka Chicka, Boom Boom to
learn about and have lots of fun with
letters We made coconut trees and used
stickers to write our names on them, we
used the coconut tree to hel! us rhyme
and make syllables, we wrote about our
favorite !art of the story for a class book,
made a yummy coconut tree snack,
tasted real coconut, and made maracas
to hel! us retell the story We made a
class recording of the story, but
unfortunately, due to an uncoo!erative
i"ad, the recording is cut off halfway
through the story! # will u!load this to our
website sometime over the weekend
We also read Chrysanthemum about a
little mouse who learns to a!!reciate her
uni$ue name, and we did some activities
e%!loring our own names
Homework
# am sending home a letter of the
al!habet for families to decorate at home
and return to school for our classroom
coconut tree "lease look for the letter
describing this activity in your child&s
folder Ty!ically, any homework that #
send home will be !ro'ects that
encourage children and !arents to work
together (o !lease have fun with your
child thinking of some creative ways to
decorate your letter)s
Snack Policy: REVISED
(ince most students have been bringing
in their own snacks each day, # would like
to sim!lify things and 'ust have each
student continue to bring in their own
snack, and not have a shared snack *
cou!le of !arents have already sent in
snacks to share +Thank you!, and # will
save these snacks for days when a child
forgets to bring one in (orry for any
confusion this causes- !lease contact me
if you have any $uestions
Birthday Treats
We love celebrating birthdays in
Kindergarten, and sometimes students
like to bring in a treat to share with the
class for their s!ecial day This is fine, but
we do have a cou!le of !olicies about
snacks "lease do not send in red 'uices
or cu!cakes with red frosting, as these
can stain our car!ets *lso, cu!cakes are
much easier and less messy to !ass out
than cake Kids often bring in cookies, ice
cream treats, or other snacks, and this is
fine too
We do have a cou!le of allergies to be
aware of: Apples and almonds
"lease do not send in any treats with
either of these things, since we would like
all of our students to be able to en'oy
them
..We have /0 students in our class

him)her to !ractice tying at home This is
not something we teach in Kindergarten,
and it takes u! a lot of time each day for
me to tie several children&s shoes
*lso, as cold weather is a!!roaching, this
is a good time to !ractice 1i!!ing 1i!!ers
# will hel! students who need hel!, but it
is e%!ected in Kindergarten that students
learn to do these things for themselves
