1. What are your goals and objectives for this lesson?

For students to understand the three regions of North Carolina.

For students to understand the different cultures in the three of these

regions.

For students to understand which cultures belong to which region, and to

label this using a graphic organizer.

For students to be able to complete this task on their own, after I model the
strategy.

2. What are some specific things you would like observed?

Am I challenging the students to be 21st century thinkers and problem

solvers?

Are they able to solve the problems without a lot of help from me?

Am I able to gain and keep control of the classroom? How can I improve this?

Am I managing my time well?

Am I allowing the students to guide their learning?

Does the flow of the lesson work?

To be completed by the Observer:

3. Strengths to continue to build on:

Recapping prior knowledge on what is culture?

Having students recall example of cultures.

Asking specific questions about the NC regions.

Walking around the room to see what students are doing.

Good job redirecting students when you noticed task was not clear.

Student sharing together facts about the regions.

Using a graphic organizer.

4. Suggestions for future lessons:

Continue to monitor for off task behavior especially in the afternoons.

Students tend to be hyper active after lunch/recess!

Before you begin lesson, make sure students are clear on what the
objective is for the lesson.

Always clarify information before you move on. E.g when you asked what
are the 3 regions of NC and the answers were not clear.. Should have
clarified regions before moving on.

SS is shared reading, so students should read in chunks and then you stop
and have them discuss before reading on.

When modeling, allow students to give you the examples then make the
chart.

A good start, confidence and management comes with time!
