ExecutiveSummary

Thepurposeofthisproposalisafundraisingeventforalocalcharity.Theeventwillbehosted
byastudentorganizationatTheUniversityofTexasatDallasandsponsoredbyoneormore
areacompanies.Allproceedsfromthefundraisingeventwillgototheoncampusorganization
andlocalcharity.

Background

HeartsofDoveisanonprofitstudentorganizationattheUniversityofTexasatDallas.The
organizationsmissionstatementistohelpprevent,educate,anderadicatedomesticviolenceand
raiseawarenessinthecommunity.Domesticviolenceisthewillfulintimidation,physical
assault,orotherabusivebehaviorperpetratedbyoneintimatepartneragainstanother.Itisalmost
neverreportedandoftenexcusedordenied.Itisanepidemicthataffectsindividualsinevery
community,withdevastatingconsequencesthatcrossesgenerations.Therearetwentyvictimsof
domesticviolenceeveryminuteintheUnitedStates.Everyyeartherearethreemillionchildren
whowitnessdomesticviolenceintheirhome.Oneinthreewomenandoneandfourmenwill
experiencedomesticviolenceintheirlifetime.Themostcommongroupaffectedarewomen
betweentheagesofeighteenandtwenty.

Proposal

Weproposetoholda5KRunandRavefordomesticviolence.Thiseventwillbeheldtoraise
awarenessandmoneyforHeartsofDoveandthecharitytheysupportGenesisWomensShelter.
TheeventwillbeheldinOctober2015,ontheSaturdayattheendofS.A.F.E.week,whichwill
bescheduledbyHeartsofDove.Therunwillbeapurpleglowrun,whichwillstartarounddusk.
TheravewillincludebetweentwoandfourDJs,allperformingforfortyfiveminutestoone
hour.TheeventwillbeheldoncampusatTheUniversityofTexasatDallas.Theeventwillbe
promotedby,flyersandbannersatgymsandothercommunitylocationsaroundtheDallasFt
Worthmetroplex,aswellasontheUTDradioand93.3FM.

Wewillhavefourlevelsofsponsors.ThehighestlevelwillbeHeartsofGoldSponsors,these
sponsorshaveagreedtodonateover$2,500inmoneyandproducts.BothTomThumbandBBC
Motorsportshaveagreedtoparticipateatthislevel.Thesesponsorswillgetlargebannerswith
theirlogoonitpostedalongtherunroutetohighlighttheirinvolvement.Theywillalsohave
largecolorlogosincludeonthetshirtgivetoeachrunnerandvolunteer.Thenextlevelis
Platinumandincludessponsorsthathaveagreedtodonateover$1,000inmoneyandproducts.
LifetimeFitnessandtheCityofRichardsonaresponsorsonthelevel.Thesesponsorswillhave
theirlogoonhalfbannersattheracetopromotetheirinvolvement.ThenextlevelisPremierand
includessponsorsthataredonating$500inmoneyandproducts.TheseincludeChocolate
Angel.Thelowestlevel,Gold,willincludesponsorsthatdonate$50inmoneyandproducts.

StaffingRequirements

StaffingfortheeventincludevolunteersfrombothHeartsofDovemembersandthestudent
bodyofTheUniversityofTexasatDallas.Weprojectthatfiftytosixtyvolunteerswillbe
needed.Volunteerswillberesponsibleforsettingupforrunandrave,registeringrunners,
handingoutrunnerpackages,sellingextraitems,workingstationsalongthe5Kroute,checking
raveattendees,aswellascleaninguppostevent.StaffingwillalsoincludeUTDpolicefor
securityandroadclosures.
