Ms. Semroc
December 1st, 2014

The Basics
Who: YOU GUYS, in groups of 4
What: Literature Circlesthink of them as a
more structured kind of book club.
Where: In class (and at home for homework as
you are preparing for your role)
When: Every Thursday during our TSL unit
Why: To promote learning that is centered
around YOU, the students.

Discussion Director
Before each Thursday meeting, the Discussion
Director should have written 5 deep-thinking
questions about the weeks readings to ask the
group.
For example: On page 500, Dumbledore says Your
failure to understand that there are things much
worse than death has always been your greatest
weakness. Do we agree with him that death is not the
worst thing that can happen to us?

As the group answers/discusses the question, the

Discussion director is writing brief notes on each
persons response. This, as well as your questions,
will be turned in!

Tweety Bird
These should be no more than 140 characters!
Include a page number that references the
scene you are drawing from in the book.
Your tweets should draw from several
different chaptersAKA they should show me
that you read ALL the assigned chapters, not
just one.
Example:
Harry Potter just blocked my Cruciatus Curse
again! Guess Ill have to retreat into the
Forbidden Forest til I regain my strength. #FAIL.

of the assigned reading.

poster, etc. but can also be a digital medium like
a Photopeach, a Pinterest board, a Tumblr, etc.
Your picture/pictures should include the page
number of the passage that inspired you and you
should be prepared to defend your choice!
