What is Modulation ?
Modulationis the process of varying one
or more properties of a periodic waveform,
called the carrier signal (high frequency
signal), with amodulatingsignal that
typically contains information to be
transmitted..
OR
In other words modulation is the process of
changing the characteristic properties of
carrier signal like amplitude, frequency and
phase

MODULATION

ANALOG
In analog modulation
the signal that we
transmit is continous
in nature.

DIGITAL
In digital modulation
the signal that we
transmit is digital in
nature.

TYPES OF DIGITAL MODULATION

PSK

PSK ( phase shift keying )

PSK is a frequency modulation scheme in

which digital information is transmitted

through discrete phase changes of a carrier
wave
Phase of the carrier is varied to represent

digital data (binary 0 or 1)

Amplitude and frequency remains constant.

If phase 0 deg to represent 0, 180 deg to

represent 1.

PSK

can be BPSK, QPSK, 8-PSK, 16-PSK

depending upon number of bits.
