A Corporate Utopia: The Play

Act _ Scene _
Setting
Within the main hall of the palace of US-Steel, Chair-Lord Vincent of US-Steel is speaking with three
members of Hebei-Steel. Chair-Lord Yu of Hebei-Steel, Honorable Work Burgess of Mining Collective
Mao and Honorable Work Burgess of Joint Smelting Village Peng. Chair-Lord Vincent and Chair-Lord Yu
are wearing ceremonial outfits, while Mao and Peng wear common work clothes. Marble Pillars line the
main walk way to the elevated Chair of US-Steel with a ash/steel colored mixture carpet runs from the
double doors to the elevated Chair. The Chair itself is steel with red, white, and blue cloth strung about it.
Chair-Lord Vincent sits upon the throne while Chair-Lord Yu, Mao, and Peng stand at the base of the
steps. The NameCaller is by the double doors in uniform waiting for ones arrival.
Characters: Chair-Lord Vincent, Chair-Lord Yu, Burgess Mao, Burgess Peng, Corbenic, Calpurnia, and
NameCaller
Chair-Lord Vincent: I do believe my Subsidiary shall be returning right about now, and with him his
choice of which of your fine girls he shall marry.
Chair-Lord Yu: Vincent you spoil Subsidiary Corbenic far too much. Wasnt your first merger selected
by your Holding.
Chair-Lord Vincent: It was indeed however this Subsidiary is a bit more riled about this affair. He has
yet to truly understand the role we have. Though it isnt that uncommon he is the 13 th of my Subsidiaries
as well as the youngest.
(Peng looks to Mao, Mao moves his head to one of the pillars)
Peng: Chair-Lords, Burgess Mao and I have things we have to discuss in private.
Chair-Lord Vincent and Yu: Understood.
(Peng and Mao move behind one of the pillars, as the Chair-lords discuss irrelevances between
themselves)
Mao: (Aside to Peng) 13 is a bad number in their customs. For if it wasnt for Chair-Lord Vincents
impotence this Subsidiary would have been killed at birth.
Peng: (Aside to Mao) I said it once and Ill say it again these people are imbeciles the lot of them. I do
hope this Subsidiary enjoys the beauties that we offer him.
Mao: (Aside to Peng) A total of 5.2 mill that he choices yours. 5.3 mill that he choices mine, and a grand
total of 13.9 mill that he tries to pick neither and gets the shit beat out of him. What an age we live in.

(Mao and Peng chuckle before returning to the throne. As Mao prepares to say something the double
doors open)
Enter Corbenic
NameCaller: Now enters Sir Corbenic of US-Steel, thirteenth heir to the Chair, Subsidiary of Chair-Lord
Vincent of US-Steel and Chair-Consort May.
(Corbenic walks towards the throne, shooting glares at Mao and Peng. Both Mao and Peng turn their
heads away smirking)
Chair-Lord Vincent: Ah my Subsidiary did you find your answer?
Corbenic: Yes my Holding and I find, none of worth. They can barely talk less than read. No, even
walking is of great difficulty for the both of them. Tis as if they were thrown down a well in youth and
only just recently brought back up.
Mao: Well not so much a well for mine but a shaft. But are you quite certain Sir Corbenic not even one~~
positive.
Peng: (chuckles) Aye, I think you can find one positive in them.
Corbenic: Enough of you twos crude mannerisms. For the very moment youve entered this palace of
piety you have stained it with your mannerisms on not only it but my sisters as well.
Mao: (aside to Peng) Well there will be a great many happy workers when we get back.
Peng: (aside to Mao) Indeed and my wallet may have grown a sizable amount
(Mao and Peng slowly start moving towards Corbenik)
Mao: Yes your sisters, a mighty fine trophy to the ugliest man in my mines.
Peng: Or my smelters.
(Chair-Lord Yu looks neutral, Chair-Lord Vincent appears to be in pain)
Corbenic: (Shouting as he charges) Working dogs!
(Corbenic lands the first hit to Mao stomach. Mao stands there for a moment letting realization wash over
Corbenic before pounding him into the ground. Stepping back Mao lets Peng give a few kicks in)
Mao: Is that all you have to say, we give you our women. It is only fair you give us yours.
Peng: Remember this boy, we dont like being called dogs. Instead use hell hounds, dire wolves, or
demons. Your choice.
(Peng and Mao look to Chair-Lord Yu)
Peng and Mao: Were leaving.
Chair-Lord Yu: Understood.
Exit Chair-Lord Yu, Peng, and Mao

(Chair-Lord Vincent approaches a sobbing Corbenic)

Chair-Lord Vincent: So that is what they did. They normally do that for your first merger, but as your
own workers speak well of you so too shall be what they offer you. In fact Im one of the few who didnt
suffer that due to my dedication to the working cause. So stand back up and think on which one you
would prefer. If we are lucky enough to be offered again.
Exit Chair-Lord Vinceint
