In Fig. 2.2.5 above, the truss is internally statically determinate trusses (2j =
m + 3) ; The supports on the left truss cannot prevent rigid-body horizontal
translation. One of the rollers should be replaced by a pin. The truss in part
(b) of Fig. 2.2.5 seems to have the right number of supports. However, the
roller at the wall cannot exert the force required to balance out the moment
of the applied force about the pin. The roller should be on the floor to
prevent rigid-body rotation around the pin.
