Gingerbread

Ingredients
350 g plain flour

175 g light brown sugar

1 tsp bicarbonate of soda

1 egg

2 tsp ground ginger

4 tbsp golden syrup

125 g butter

Method
1. Preheat the oven to 180C/Gas 4
2. Sift the flour, bicarbonate of soda and ginger
3. Add the butter and mix until it looks like breadcrumbs
4. Stir in the sugar
5. Beat the egg and golden syrup together, then add to the mix
6. Mix until it creates a dough
7. Roll out and cut into shapes
8. Bake for 12-15 minutes or until lightly golden brown
9.

Decorate when cooled
