INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS TO SHARE PARAGUYAN CULTURE, TRADITIONS
MANHATTAN, Kan. International K-State students from Paraguay will share their culture with students and locals at the Mar. 6 International Coffee Hour. Students Mateo Zavala and Denisse Bernie will begin their presentation at 4 p.m. International Student and Scholar Services hosts the free event. The presentation will take place at the ISSS building on the corner of Mid-Campus Drive and Claflin. Coffee and tea are always provided. For one hour, you get to visit that country, said Ann Burger, international student support coordinator. Burger described it as getting to travel without leaving K-State. Each month, a different country is selected and students from that country are invited to put together a presentation. With over 2,200 international students from 100 different countries, there is no shortage of diversity or coffee hour topics. Burger wanted to stress that event is open to the public. Students, faculty and Manhattan residents are all welcome to attend. It's a great way to learn about a country from a person who is actually from there, Burger said. Its not just researching online, youre really getting first-hand experience of what its like to be there, she said. The presentation is usually 20 to 30 minutes, saving the remaining time for discussion or questions. To find upcoming coffee hour topics, visit the ISSS website: http://www.kstate.edu/oip/intladmit/. Burger may be contacted at aburger@ksu.edu or (785) 532-6028. ####
