Why do you want to be a mentor? (in 50 words or less)

What is the goal of the Cornerstone mentorship program? (in your opinion)

How many hours per month are you willing to commit to cornerstone/mentorship? ___

Other Organizations in which I am involved include: _________________________

______________________________________________________________
I want to be paired with freshman in my major/field of study ( Y / N )
I want to be paired with someone who shares my social(non-academic) interests ( Y / N )
I want to be paired with someone I would likely not get the chance to know otherwise ( Y / N )
[Selecting a certain option does not guarantee the fulfillment of that request. Steve and the ACS officers appreciate you
understanding the necessity of efficiently matching all incoming freshmen]

Mentor Partner Requests:

The mentorship program will be structured as families, each family consisting of four members. There
will be two mentors, each assigned one mentee. To be clear, you do not have two mentees and do not have
to spend individual time monthly with each member of your Cornerstone family; however, you are
expected to invest in each of your mentors at least once a month. If that will not be possible, this is not the
leadership program for you. The purpose of these families is to provide as many resources and as much
support as possible for these freshmen. Please, feel free to be creative in how you go about fulfilling this
responsibility!
We want to create strong, supportive relationships through this program. That being said we will take
requests of who you would like to be paired with and who you would not like to be paired with. Requests
for not pairing will be honored fully, but requests for your partners are not guaranteed, this is for the
freshmen, not our enjoyment.

I would like to be paired with: _________________________________________

I would appreciate NOT being paired with: _______________________________
Being a mentor is an actual responsibility and should be treated as such.
There will be a mandatory Mentorship Retreat on Sunday, September 6th from 5pm to 10pm.
People unable to attend this retreat need to have cleared it with Steve McKnight BY Sunday,
August 30th at 5pm. Mentors who simply refuse to attend or do not get permission from Steve
will be cut from the mentorship program indefinitely.
As a mentor, you will be expected to make a sincere effort to spend time with your mentee AT
LEAST twice a month.
There will also be a few more (ie two or three per semester) mandatory events coming up, such
as the Christmas Party on December 6th. If you ever find yourself unable to come to one of these
events, dont worry! Just text Steve as soon as possible so that we know that you still love us
and arent just skipping out.
More details about the retreat and your partners/mentees will be arriving soon! Meanwhile,
please mark your calendars and start thinking of all the great things you want to share with your
freshmen!

I want to thank you for applying to be a mentor. Simply by being in Cornerstone, you have
proven yourself to be one of the most capable college students in the nation. As a mentor, you
will be taking on the responsibility of guiding the next class of Cornerstone students as they
discover their own potential. This is not something that I lightly, and I know that you share that
belief. I could not do any of this without your help, so please know how much you are
appreciated!
If you have any questions about anything on this application, please feel free to contact me!
Thanks again, and Gig Em!
