William Golding

William Golding was a writer, novelist and a poet, he was born on September 19, 1911 in
Newquay, England, he died on June 19, 1993 in Perranarworthal England, he wrote 15 novels,
included the acclaimed novel Lord of the Flies.
We can assume because of the dates of his birth and death he lived in his early life during the
Great War, so this means he lost a lot of his family in the war so, he grew up with a lacking a
man role model, because his father has to old. Afterwards, when he was a teenage he pass
through the big crisis in 1929, this mean he had to starve more than once, then during the II WW
(second world war) he needed to join the army, more specific the navy, after all his writing and
his courage he was knighted by Elizabeth II. because of his writing and courage, he was .
This historical context affect everyone, and this is shown in the way he lived of living, in the way
he behave , and in the way he work. To I explain myself, in histories we can see the different
ways people express their thoughts. Ancient people used to write in stone, then in paper about
theirs gods, because at the time they was no explanation of anything else, Then when the church
appears, the bible change everything we know, for example the restriction to write what you
want or not. We can see how in the Lorde of the flies, Golding tries to describe how a society
works, the good and the bad, because in his lifetime they were societies that they dont work, and
other that did, so he is trying to explain to us how a society works.
