Revised Report
What comes to mind when you think of the humane society and global
warming. Some would say nothing, others would would have a thick headed
comment. But really they both share one common threat; they are homeless. Utah
finds animals without a home on a daily basis. These animals are taken to
the animal shelter and could possible find their new home. However animals
who are affected through global warming lose their home permanently. Its
easy for humanity to pick up and move but for wild life their homes are made
through right temperature being water or land, Humidity, and food source. If
even one of these goes a stray the whole Eco system will die along with the
animals. If we don't find different ways to produce energy we could lose what
we have left. Soon the south pole will be the next spring break destination
and the only time we will really see polar bears and penguin are in zoo or
never.

The Humane Society of Utah helps protect the lives of these animals
providing food, shelter and hope for a new home and new life. In the many
commercials about the Humane Society, we see animals that have been
mistreated through neglect and torture. Each animal shown has a chance at
a new life if people would help donate to the Humane Society. The money
that is donated helps to go toward feed the animals any medical needs, and
help to keep the staff in place to assist these animals. I the world goes
missing treated no amount of donation via money or property will save these
animals. If you take a look at deforestation in the rain forest you hear talk of
animals going extinct. This is do to the fact that some animals food source is
fount in one area, their home is in a specific altitude or that animal only
produces one descendent in its life time meaning that if killed that already
scarce population will no longer exist. In you can try your hardest to preserve
what we have left by recycling, use every means of what you have reduce
carbon emissions for cleaner air and find other ways to save plants and
animals either through your actions or through national protection sights.

As we dig deeper in to the Humane Society of Utah, we find that all of the

animals residing in the shelter were seen as unwanted in other public

shelters. This is due to the fact that the majority of these animals have varing
degrees of medical needs . Local shelters wanted healthy animals that
wouldn't need much maintenance. This is mostly in part so if the animals
were to be adopted, it would be an easier transition for pet and owner. What
happens to animals who loose their home through global warming? Will they
be seen as unwanted? Is there any way to stop what has already be done?
Unfortunately there is no way we can undo what has been done. We can only
preserve what we have and build from there. In the case for the animals, we can't have
a zoo filled with endanger animals, That isn't their natural habitat.
We need to reduce the Co2 emissions put out through cars energy plants and
building we can save what we do have, and keep natural homes for animals
this earth desperately needs.

The animals in the Humane Society were given the second chance they
needed. By providing medical treatment they so desperately needed, along
with food and shelter. These animals made a great turn around and became eligible for
adoption. However, not all animals that are found on the street go
to the Humane Society. The majority of animals that are found go to the local
shelter. If the animal is seen as unwanted or big risk, they are moved to the
Humane Society to be cared for and treated. (Humane Society)

What happens to those animals if the Humane Society gets over

crowded? The Humane Society of Utah goes by a no kill code. This code
insures that no animal big or small will be killed due to over crowding. The
same will go for animals that have lost their home due to global warming In
talking with one of the police officers of the West Jordan Police Department,
who also assists euthanize animals as a part time job states, " In Utah, we
don't ever euthanize any animal due to over crowding. Sadly in some cases
euthanasia has to be done. If we find an animal such as a dog has been used
in a murder, is deeply sick, or severely injured, then the dog will have to be put
down. Some of these animals we don't want to euthinise; we know they were
ordered by their keeper to preform the task. If not the animal would have
probably shared the same fate as the victim."
If shelters were being over crowded, a handfuls of animals would be
taken to a number of other shelters around the Salt Lake valley to provide
more space and help the adoption process continue. Unfortunately for wild life if they
don't have the right Eco system they will be left to die

the humane society gets their donations either through money. Collected
through a drop box. Any proceeds from purchasing items from the humane
society go to the animals. Any toys of food can also be donated to these
animals. I wish this could be said about animals effected through pollution
and global warming. The truth is the money you spend on your cars for gas,
the money you spend on paper all go toward deforestation and smog build
up that gets deposited on ice caps, plant matter, sometimes its even
converted into acid rain that continues to wreak havoc on plant life. Humanity in
a nut shell are helping destroy this world out of greed.
The volunteers in the humane society are truly the back bone of the
organization. They help clean the kennel, wash the animals, feed everyone.
The volinteers make sure each animal has their moment to sniff, bark, scratch,
chase and even do there business. These volunteers never receive a check
they don't get an animal in return. They do all of this out of love and
admiration. Their are groups and organizations at play that are trying to help fix what
we do have here. These people made it their job to find new ways to produce clean
energy that can be reuse every day. These organizations built wind farm that can
power entire citys at will. Hydro electric power created by places like the Hover dam.
Even California donated land spesific for harvesting solar energy. These people are
helping to make the world more inhabitable. They have seen the damage that man
kind has eroded into the earth. They have seen a significant deference in wild life and
they are acting upon that.

For the humane society of Utah the majority of animals presiding there are cats,
dogs, rabbits even hamster's of other stations around the world the pet can vary from
horse to sea life. In the wild there isn't a humane society. There are national parks, no
fences no volunteers feeding and cleaning the animals. No one is aloud to harm these
animals if inside the park. However their habitat is still effected thought acid rain and
pollutant put of from the cars we drive. We can't control mother nature, we can control
the tools we give her. If we have cleaner burning cars we can reduce the amount of
Co2 in the air protecting the defenseless and giving a chance for the earth to repair its
self.

The humane society of Utah has saved the lives of over 10,000 animals and have
provided families joy and happiness. As I left the humane society I learned that each
animal has a story that needs to be shared. I also learned through great dedication the

humane society helped save the lives of thousands. The question now lies on us. Can
we like the humane society make a difference. Change what has been done and what
can we do to change that to, what has been done to change and what can we do to
make better? The humane society strives to make life better both animals and people.
What can people do to make life more inhabitable for wild life. If it weren't for the
people that build wind farms, solar stations and hydro electric stations we probably
would bee too late to protect what natural life we have. The next step is to see how to
make that better? I leave this question to you in spite that we can save our ecosystem
and have life for the future.
