Cell: 775-750-6626 - Arciniega.alexm@gmail.com April 4, 2015 Human Resources Washoe County School District 1001 East Ninth Street Reno, NV 89512 775-328-2081 My name is Alexandria Arciniega and I am writing to express my interest in securing a position teaching Art in Washoe County School District. I was born and raised in Reno and have been actively involved with Washoe County as both a student and a teacher for much of my life. I have been employed as a substitute teacher for approximately two years. During that time, I have worked in many K-12 schools throughout the district. After substitute teaching for a short period of time, I made the decision to make teaching my career. Working and collaborating with the teachers of Washoe County has allowed me to witness the hard work and dedication that creates positivity in schools and, more importantly, in students lives. It is these teachers that have inspired my decision to teach. In a world wrought with pressures and unknowns, my goal is to be a positive influence in students lives. I am currently in the process of obtaining my teaching certificate and am also continuing my education in a Master of Arts in Teaching at Sierra Nevada College. These teaching and educational opportunities have given me confidence in my teaching abilities and have allowed me to begin to establish my own personal teaching pedagogy. I intend to pull from my experience as a substitute and student teacher, from my coursework at Sierra Nevada College, and my passion for the arts to create positivity for my students, my fellow teachers, and for Washoe County School District as a whole. I have completed the requisite coursework in art to be considered highly qualified within the school district. Additionally, my time spent playing college softball has strengthened my work ethic and provided me with the capacity to work well in a team setting. I am confident I can draw from my education, experiences, and dedication and become a valued employee within the district. In light of the foregoing, I ask that you please consider me for the position of Art Teacher in Washoe County. Sincerely, Alexandria Arciniega 775-750-6626 Arciniega.alexm@gmail.com
