My names is Lauren Akers, I am a recent graduate from Texas State University with a Bachelor's in
Theatre Performance and Production. My passion is to educate the youth on the fine arts and theatre.
My goal is that students may grow an appreciation and apply skills they learn from theatre to life
outside of the classroom. I am seeking a Educator position to teach Theatre EC-12. I look forward to
hearing from potential employers and future team members.

Substitute Teacher

February 2021 to Present
A substitute teacher takes the place of the teacher if that teacher is unavailable. It is a substitutes duty
to follow any notes the teacher has left for the class i.e. assignments, lessons, and or projects. You
made need to lead a class in completing those assignments that the teacher has left for them. As a
substitute I have learned classroom managements skills, and also building positive relationships with
the students when visiting a class. Your ultimate goal is making sure the class is safe and following the
correct procedures the teacher has setup for the class.

I transferred to a different store within Cavender's to pick up and learn sales in retail. Cavender's is a
very competitive sales floor. you learn a lot about customer service and how too work for the guest as
they are shopping for western/work wear.

Head Cashier- Special Orders

As head cashier I was able to teach our new cashiers how to work a register and cash handling skills. I
was also able to exceed in customer service skills while being able to process returns and handling orders
coming in and out of the store. Learned about different products and vendors. I was also to understand
and process transfers and also how the computer system worked for Cavender's.

Served guest acholic Beverages under TABC guidelines. Also, helped in nightly duties when cleaning up
after the bar closed. I also learned quick cash handling skills, for they did not have an updated system.

Performed the duties as a cashier with simple cash handling as a guest checked out at a register. Also
helped in cleaning and maintain women's department and jean wall. Provided customer service as soon
as a guest walked in the store.

Associate Teacher-Toddler

Took on the role of Associate teacher in a toddler classroom under the lead toddler teacher for the center.
I learned to work and connect with families while taking care and teaching their child. I also learned how
to incorporate fun and creative ways of implementing learning goals for different lesson plans. Being
flexible, but also trying to stay to routine is something I learned to blend well while working with toddlers.
Also, just having fun the key lesson I took with me is that you can learn through play!

Performed the daily duties as an receptionist which included checking guest in and maintaining the lobby
area to be clean and organized. Also helped the hairstylist with simple chores of cleaning and washing
stations and keeping items sanitized.

Performer Two included dancing on stage in costume and also assisting as an escort to costume
characters. Participated in rehearsals and performances. I performed as Elmo in the Bay of Play "Sunny
Day's" shows and took pictures with children while in costume.

leadership classes and also helped conduct a leadership workshop.

International Thespian Society - Troupe 5872

You must earn Theatre points to become a member of the International Thespian Society/ join a
troupe. Consisting of Ushering events to working a sound board or acting on stage. Once you are
inducted you remain a lifetime member of the society. 
 
In 2011-2012 I was the troupes Historian- kept the records/photos of the troupe for that school year
and up to date. 
 
In 2012-2013 I was the troupes President and called all thespian meetings for that school year and
attended all the Drama Booster club meetings and fundraisers.

Alpha Gama Delta

I was initiated into the Greek sorority Alpha Gamma Delta- Kappa Epsilon chapter at Texas State
University. Unfortunately I suspended my membership due to the finical obligations.
