Issues in Educational Technology

After reading the reading the required material and reviewing Week Four resources, the topic I
choose to discuss is Accountability and the standards movement Educators want to know (a)
how technology can help students meet required curriculum standards and (b) what role
technology skills play in children's education. This comes from The Top Ten Issues Shaping
Today's Technology Use in Education. This is also the first topic on the page. Accountability and
the Standards Movement is important because the Common Core Standards are what Teachers
are preparing students for within the statewide standards within the classroom. When using
Technology within the classroom Teachers want to know that the implementation of these
devices ill not deter the lesson intended for the students. Moreover, Teachers are looking for an
educational incorporation of technology within the school setting. When discussing Technology
in the Education Setting implementation should be in efforts to better the Education given and/or
receiving within the setting. However, some may feel as if Technology can hinder the learning
process. What can assist with the proper incorporation of Technology in Education is the ability
to restrict the use for Educational purposes. With restriction in place, parents and teachers can
work together in ensuring the student is engaged in activities and/or completing assigned tasks.
Moreover, Teachers being provided with resources that encourage the Common Core Standards
through Technology will assist in incorporating these Standards throughout Education Lessons.
