The key of A harmonic minor is based on the natural minor, but has a raised seventh scale degree.
This is the most frequently used form of minor.

The seventh degree of the scale is
now a functional leading tone

Note the difference in the Dominant Seventh chord


It now contains an augmented fourth interval and has
a stronger pull back to the tonic i chord

The ascending A Melodic Minor scale is like a


natural minor with a raised 6th & 7th degree

The descending melodic form is the same


as the natural minor.
