StraightAs
Italmostseemsthatinthisdayinage,thevalueinpursuingforindeptheducationis
dwindling.Nolongerarepeoplestrivingtopushthemselvestothemosttheycaninthe
classroominordertomaximizetheireducationalexperience.Instead,theaveragestudent
prioritizestheaccomplishmentoftheirgpa.Howisitthat,underourmodernschoolculture,
studentsmotivationtoexceltheirthinkinghasbeenreplacedbyagetallAsmentality?
Simple.Theunfortunatematterathandissomanystudentsacknowledgethesystemthatgrades
therebygpaarewhatgetyouintocollege.Onpaperadministratorscanonlyviewthebasic
sentimentsofAs,Bs,orCs.Itimpossibleforthemtobeabletotrulymeasuretherigorand
courseworkthatisuniquetoeachstudent,teacher,andschool.Consequently,thisisnowhow
studentscanperceivetheirclasses,asameanstogethighgrades.Presentisthestigmaofseeing
aBorheavenforbidaConastudent'stranscript.
Almostunfairlyitseemsanyonecangethighgradesbyconformingtothesystemand
participatinginthecycleofstudy,test,forget.Thattheseindividualswhoareconformists,or
knowhowtoworkthesystem,choosingclassestheyknowtobeeasier,intheendcantrumptrue
hardworking,openmindedstudents.Inturn,thisverysystemcausestheinfluxofincompetent
studentsbeingabletotakecollegeopeningswayfromstudentswhoaremoredeserving

Now,takingthisrouteinhighschoolisbynomeanslazyornothardwork,itis,infact,
laboriousstudy,maybeevenawisedecision.Itoo,asaworryabouttheprospectofmy
unmentionablegpa,soIcanseewhysomanystudentsturntothisapproach.Butthematteris
thatitshouldntbelikethis,simply,thisshouldnotbetheformofhardworkthatstudents
activelyaimtodo.Thevalueinstudentswelladequatelyacquaintedwiththinkinganalytically
andcriticallyiswhatshouldbetheultimategoalofhighschool,preparingthemforthereal
world.
Ultimately,theresponsibilityforacquiringanadequateeducationisthejobofthe
student.Noschoolorinstructorcaninstillsuchamoral.Solelythepurposeofthepupilisthat
theymustbecomeacquaintedwithpropertiesofalifebeyondhighschoolandacceptthe
deflatedvalueofthemeretranscript.Onlythencanastudentfindthevalueineducation.
