Reading to shape a strong future

As time passes on, rather too quickly i'd say; changes also follow along too.
But Pagbasa (Reading) helps us navigate through this shifts. It enhances our skills in
conveying, comprehending, and learning the vast sea of information. We can obtain
these not only by books but everywhere around which is why developing this
important skill is necessary. This provides the assist we need, opening doors to
countless of possibilities and with these new found learning it can be used along the
road of the indefinite number of futures students have.

On August 10, 2023, Vice President Sarah Duterte initiated the MATATAG
curriculum which is the modified version of the previous curriculum for K to 12.
Through the years, especially after the pandemic, they've observed more and more
learners who struggle to comprehend and displayed poor performance in basic
assessments. This is why they are integrating this “new norm” slowly but surely. By
offering flexibility for students and paving a way for a smoother and faster run for
their education.

Although this might prove as another problem for some who might have
already grown accustomed to the old ways of our educational system. Quality and
proper education is the goal. Taking what was already there and improving it more,
showing students the importance of this without any obstacles or distractions. And
also giving support to the students who do struggle.

Additionally, children in those who lack in comprehension tend to struggle

more in keeping up with all the subjects. This makes things in their perspective more
overwhelming in many ways. Many might think that this is a small obstacle for them
to tackle but for those who have grown with no guidance or have difficulty in
understanding, this a mountain of a hurdle for them to overcome. One of the
reasons learners tend to struggle here is the lack of proper guidance which might be
from the lack of quality education in their community/schools and can be from
poverty as well limiting their access to resources.

Likewise without the capability to read and to write. It limits what the
learner’s future might be considering in every generations or with time,
requirements for jobs and the flow of society ceases to be the same. With the newly
implemented curriculum they hope to attain and produce responsible, ready, and
active citizens. Ready to tackle the hardships with proper and effective preparation.

But of course, even with the efforts of students they still need the guidance
of their educators as well. They are the ones in charge of supplying and supporting
each and everyone of the students through their educational journey. Helping them
step by step to shape their understanding with this bizarre and curious world.

This is why learning and reading at a ripe age can really make them more
comfortable in forming their opinions and boosting their overall self-image. It also
creates the footing they need to move forward with full trust in their abilities as a
well rounded person and citizen.

In conclusion, even with those who are opposed to this change. Time still
keeps ticking. As humans we have grown to adapt to what is needed to improve
further and faster for the development of our future. And reading, is a great way to
start. Having that ability to educate ourselves, learning new concepts, and being
curious about the world is something is a something to be proud of. So continue on
the path we are able to pave the way one step at a time.
