AN ITEM ANALYSIS OF CIVIC EDUCATION FINAL TEST FOR THE SECOND

SEMESTER OF SEVENTH GRADE STUDENTS OF SMP NEGERI 5 DEPOK,


SLEMAN 2013/2014

ABSTRACT
The research aims to know the characteristic of the final test item for the second
semester during school year 2013/2014 in civic education of seventh grade students of
SMP Negeri 5 Depok, Sleman. The characteristic of the items are analyzed for knowing
the level of difficulty, the differentiator index, and the effectivity of distractor.
This research belongs to descriptive research which uses the qualitative approach.
Those data is analyzed by using statistic program which is called by Item Analysis
(ITEMAN) 3.00. The population of this research is the seventh grade students of SMP
Negeri 5 Depok, Sleman. The researchs object is the final test of civic education in
second semester during the school year 2013/2014 which amount to 50 items. The
sampling technique that researcher uses are the documentation method to collect the final
test script, the answer key, and the students answer.
The results of this research show: (1) In difficulty levels, there are found that 35
out of 50 items (70%) are categorized into easy level, 12 out of 50 items (24%) are
included in medium level, and 3 out of 50 items (6%) are classified into hard level. It
means that the characteristic of the final test of civic education of seventh grade students
belongs to easy level. (2) The differentiator index shows that there are 5 out of 50 items
(10%) come with the high level, the medium level consist of 17 out of 50 items (34%),
and 28 out of 50 items (56%) are in easy level. It assumes that the characteristic of civic
education of seventh grade students is in medium level. (3) The effectivity of distractor
results that there are 69 out of 150 distractors (46%) work good, and the rest, about 81 out
of 150 distractors (54%) do not work. In short, the characteristic of civic education final
test of seventh grade students has good enough distractors.
