4TH GRADE NEWS

What Were Doing
Literacy- We will be learning how to
determine Point of View and compare
primary and secondary resources.
Writing- This week we will be working
on informational writing through an
animal research project.
Science- This week we will focus on
behaviors and adaptations on different
types of animals through an animal
research project.
Math- We will be finishing up our
patterns unit and beginning our
measurement unit.

Friendly Reminders
*Spelling News*
Each student will be given a list of
10 vocabulary words each week.
In order to earn a score of a 3, the
student must score 80% or higher
(8/10-10/10). New: To earn a
score of a 4, the student must also
correctly identify 4/5 of the
definitions and use these bonus
terms correctly in a sentence (1
bonus point will be awarded for
each correctly used vocabulary
term for a maximum possible
percent score of a 105%). Students
will staple/tape their spelling list
into their agendas each Monday.

I will continue to provide students
with individualized Words Their Way
spelling lists each week. This will be
worked on during Word Work in

* Graded work is sent home regularly throughout

the week. Please make sure to check that they are
bringing their work home.
* If you have transportation changes, please send in
a note in advance.
*Please be sure that your child has money on their
cafeteria account.
*Please be mindful of school dress codes when
sending your child to school. Be careful of shorts
that are too short specifically. Thank you for your
help with this.
