4. If the student has an ID card, you will be able to scan it and their information will pop up.
If not, you can type in their lunch number or name in the "Find Patron" search box and
their information will be displayed.

5. Next, scan the "check-out" barcode OR select "Check Out" from the left-hand side and
proceed to scan their books. Patrons are only allowed to check out 2 books at a time. If
they are checking books in, scan the "check-in" barcode and scan the book(s).

Remember to advise the students to take their old book slip out and place in the tray on
the circulation desk.

How to Locate Books

Students have many options to search for books in Destiny. Since we are working with grade levels
6-8, I like to narrow it down to two; basic and visual.

1. From the "Catalog" tab, select "Library Search" and make sure the green triangle is on
"Basic". In the "Find" search box, type in your desired selection.

2. From the results page, you can see that there are 10 titles in the collection. From the
right-hand side, patrons can see if the item is available or not.

3. If patrons are unsure of the title of the resource they want, they can always perform a
visual search.
The categories that are shown are Animals, Famous People, Folk and Fairy Tales,
Geography, History, Holidays, Science and Sports.

4. For the sake of this tutorial, I'm going to select "Sports". The results include everything
that we have available in our collection on sports. Based on our collection, there are 119
titles featured in this category.

5. After a selection is made, patrons should write down the "Call #" so that they can easily
locate the book. (pencils and cards are available at the card catalog computer station.)
