For: Ezra may be considered as a passive person in some aspects of his life but
there is strong evidence that suggests that he was also a goal-centered person
who was determined to get what he wanted.
Against: Although Ezra shows very strong determination to pursue his goals, he
also at times could reflect his lack of personality.

Ezra puts his family as a priority; his is clearly shown when he avoided reacting
against his brother for stealing his girlfriend. It not that he did not care about
anything at all but he chooses to preserve his family bonds rather than destroy
his relationship with his brother.

At first sight it might be sensible to think that Ezra lacked

commitment to accomplish any goal in life. However, Ezra was capable
of display a strong determination in order to preserve his bonds with
his family and achieve his life ambitions.
Not only Ezra was motivated to reunite his family but also he was
determined to make people around him to feel better.
At first sight, it might sensible to think that Ezra did not take any
action in his life. He was easily fooled by his brother Cody, who played
dishonest tricks on him what is more; he accepted Codys and Ruths
relationship passively. Indeed, he did not get angry at them. Ezra also
welcomed the idea dying when he thought he had cancer. Still, Ezra
had dogged behavior in order to obtain his own objectives which
outweigh his lack of reaction.
