- 5.4 Block Drills under simplified conditions

Start with small side-steps, later proceed with the


cross-step-technique

Drill Objective:
Correct timing of the take-off and
control of the shoulder tension.

Drill Description:
A/B and C/D are standing face to face
at the net. During the drill A is
determines place and time of the
take-off. B is reacting as fast as
possible. A and B are supposed to
clap into each others blocking-hands
over the top of the net. On the way
back it is the turn of player B to
determine place and time of the
take-off.

A/B and C/D are standing face to


face at the net. A is holding a ball
and performs a side-step which
was agreed upon in advance; A
stops his/her movement, takesoff and gives the ball to B, who
has imitated A in the meantime;
B reaches over the net in order
to receive the ball from A; next,
B proceeds like A with a sidemovement and A imitates B
T determines the rhythm
T throws the ball against the top
of the net; now, A and B try to
push the ball into the
opponents court
