As a substitute teacher, I was able to spend time in many schools in Monongalia County. In January
2015, I became the permanent substitute teacher in a seventh grade English classroom at Westwood
Middle School.

During my time as a student teacher, I worked at East Fairmont High School in 10 th Grade English and
10th-12th Grade Journalism classrooms where I taught units on Julius Caesar, Social Media and PR, and
Photojournalism. I also worked at Mountaineer Middle School in Clarksburg, WV in an 8 th grade
English classroom where I taught units on Social Injustice Research and The Poetry of the Harlem
Renaissance.

As a tutor for the campus wide writing center, I worked with students both individually and in groups to help
them improve their writing skills. During my time as a tutor, I received the highest evaluation score for that

Upon graduating from Fairmont State in May of 2014, I achieved a Bachelors degree in Secondary English
Education with a second specialization in Journalism.
While attending Fairmont State, I participated in the Honors Program and maintained a 4.0 GPA within my
field and a 3.9 GPA overall. I was a member of the Kappa Delta Pi Education Honorary and was an active
member of the International Student Organization during the 2010-2011 school year. I was recognized as the
English Education Outstanding Student for the 2012-13 and 2013-14 school years. I also became a member of
the Sigma Tau Delta English Honorary and was accepted to be a participant in their 2014 international
conference.
