GUIDELINES FOR THE DRAMA STUDIO

FIRST (ONLY) RULE:


RESPECT FOR OTHERS AT ALL TIMES
This is a place where WEIRD is WHAT WE AIM FOR and EVERYONE IS

WELCOME. There will be no talking while anyone else is speaking or presenting, that
includes Mr. Furmaniuk.
CLASS PROCEDURES:
When you enter the DRAMA STUDIO:
1)

drop off your bag (with phone/ipod etc INSIDE) by the sink

2)

come and sit in the circle for a class meeting/warm up.

CLASS SETUPS:
a)

Circle mode: For class meetings and warm ups. Only speak when you have the

OBJECT OF POWER. Bring your notebook and pencil/pen, but leave them on the floor
behind you.
b)

Classroom style mode: Face the board, notebooks out and pencils ready. Mr.

Furmaniuk will be giving notes or running a class discussion. You must put up your hand and
wait to be called on (but please do! Polite discussion is always welcome).
c)

Rehearsal mode: Working in rehearsal groups on performance assignments. You will

be brainstorming, acting out possible staging ideas, or rehearsing your scenes.


d)

Audience mode: Face the performance area (stage). Notebooks are out for taking

notes and checking rubrics. Respectful audience behaviour is essential no talking or


whispering, etc. Respectful feedback will be given by Mr. Furmaniuk and by students when
called on.
WHEN YOU HEAR: Mr Furmaniuk call out FREEZE! OR the bell ringing stop what you
are doing, face Mr. Furmaniuk, and wait for more instructions.
GROUP WORK: Mr. Furmaniuk will AWAYS choose your groups. Be willing and ready to
work with everyone in this class. You will choose to have a positive attitude and work well
with whoever has been assigned to your group. You will work with EVERYONE many times!

Be sure to offer lots of ideas AND be prepared to compromise when working in


groups!

If for some reason a conflict arises, ASK MR FURMANIUK TO HELP SOLVE IT.
But . . . you must abide by my decision.

Bring your NOTEBOOK/BINDER with paper and a PENCIL/pen to EVERY CLASS

ASK to use any props/set pieces BEFORE grabbing them

NO GUM drop it in the waste basket as you enter

All assigned scenes MUST be performed. There is no option to take a zero.
