San Migolas Programming Requirements 20152016

During Fall quarter, each RA is required to attend two WOW events and put on a minimum of 5
programs.
Co pairs are expected to attend one WOW event together.
For Winter and Spring quarter, each RA is required to put on a minimum of 5 programs:
1 Floor CDA during Week 1
1 On/Off Campus Connection CDA
1 Pillar Program (LLC-related):
o Academic Assistance (Scholarship)
o Personal Growth (Leadership)
o Fostering Safety and Citizenship (Citizenship)
1 Building-Wide Alternative (Fri. or Sat. after 9pm)
1 Collaborative Program:
o Faculty/Staff Collab
o San Migolas Collab
o Hall Council Collab

CDA/Floor Bonding:
These programs are meant to be fun/social events that connect you to your residents and for them to
connect with each other. All residents should feel welcome, and you should continuously try your best to
program to their needs/wants.

1 Floor CDA during Week 1


o This program serves as a Welcome back/jump start to the quarter. It makes for a
great time to (re)connect with residents after breaks. It is also a bit easier to reach
out to them since they are barely easing back into classes.
1 On/Off Campus Connection CDA
o Thisprogramcanhappenatanytimeduringthequarter.Wealwayswanttoensure
thatourresidentsaremaximizingnotonlythetimetheyhavinglivinginour
wonderfulcommunities,buttheirtimeonandoffcampus.Itisnotjustapointto
bringtheresourcestotheresidents,buttobringthemtotheMANYgreatresources
andeventsourcampushastooffer.Helptheresidentsalsorealizethismaybethe
onlytimetheywillliveinSantaBarbara,locatedthisclosetotheoceanand
mountains,withmanyparks,gardens,festivals,aquaticactivities;thepossibilities
areendless.

Pillar (LLC-related):
Although your target audience is to have your residents at this program, we would like to see the whole
building invited. At the beginning of the quarter, RAs will sign up ahead of time for the week of their choice to
hold their Pillar Program.

You must submit a program proposal at least 10 days in advance of the planned date.
Please follow the 3 Pillar guidelines and check in with Kianna and/or Alexia to ensure your program fulfills the
requirement.

Building-Wide Alternative:
Every weekend, we would like each building to provide an evening activity (after 9pm, either Fri. or
Sat.) for the residents. At the beginning of the quarter, RAs will sign up ahead of time for the weekend of their
choice to hold their Alternative Program. If you would like to, you may pair up with the RA in the opposite
building to put on the Alternative together.

You must submit a program proposal at least 10 days in advance of the planned date.

Collaborative Programming:
There are 3 types of Collaborative Programming, which can be thought of as being placed on a committee for
the quarter. At the beginning of each quarter the cycle will shift and you will be placed on a new committee.

Faculty/Staff Collab:
o These RAs will plan to invite and work with a Faculty/Staff member. This program can happen
at any time during the quarter (plan accordingly). This will provide the RAs an opportunity to
create their own connections with different departments on our campus, as well as provide the
residents with a comfortable setting to talk/interact with the Faculty/Staff member, which they
may have little opportunity to do so otherwise.
o You must submit a program proposal at least 2 weeks in advance of the planned date.

San Migolas Collab:


o These RAs will work together to put on a large-scale cross building social/activity/highly
interactive program. We would like to see this program closer to the end of the quarter, on the
weekend, and with a high attendance. Considering there is a group of at least 5 RAs, we hope for
this to be a Wow!/highly publicized/signature program for our buildings.
o You must submit a program proposal at least 2 weeks in advance of the planned date.

Hall Council Collab:


o Each RA of this committee will be paired up with an executive board member from their
respective Hall Council. As our Hall Council members are student leaders, we would like to
provide them the opportunity to gain program-planning experience. This is more of you
supporting and helping them make their program idea a reality; however you are responsible for
following through with this program. Remember to go through any of the steps you would
usually take when planning an event: program proposal, requesting funds, shopping, publicity,
set-up, break-down, evaluation, reimbursement forms, etc.
o You must submit a program proposal at least 10 days in advance of the planned date.
