Ohio State has a longstanding tradition of offering Buckeyes of
all ages and abilities vibrant summer experiences from June to
August. The university offers fun and engaging activities
including programs in academics, arts, language, literature,
medicine, music, sports, and multi-cultural among others.
Weve covered it all, from indoor to outdoor activities. The Ohio
State 2015 Summer Camp Guide will help you find the best
type of residential or day camp for your child. Weve also
included programs that help pre-college students transition
more smoothly to a university setting.

Camp Name: Camp Recky
Program Description: Camp Recky, run by the Office of Student Lifes Department of Recreational Sports,
is a 10 week day camp program for children who have completed kindergarten through 8th grade. Camp
Recky is accredited by the American Camp Association and will run weekly June 1 August 7 with full and
half-day traditional day camps as well as sports, cooking camp , and teen camps.

Camp Name: Digital Animation: A Technology Mentoring Program for Young Women
Program Description: Digital Animation is an opportunity for girls to work in small collaborative teams,
directed by women mentors in a dynamic and focused technological experience using the latest computer
animation and web technologies. The mentors are graduate students who, in conjunction with OSU faculty,
lead the girls through a shared discovery of the world of graphics and animation integrating problemsolving skills, collaborative learning and presentation. Participants explore the same high-end software
used in movies like Horton Hears a Who!, Kung Fu Panda, and WallE!

summer program that provides a critical thinking forum for rising high school students to explore the big
questions at the intersection of the humanities and cognitive sciences. By the end of the week, students
will have learned central aspects of just how the humanities and cognitive sciences can work together to
help us understand how we imagine, artistically create, and materially transform the world in which we live.
The Institute is co-sponsored by the Office of Diversity and Inclusion and the Center for Cognitive and
Brain Sciences.

Exceptions or Prerequisites: Students must apply and are selected based on academic merit and other
criteria.

Camp Name: Stone Laboratory Summer Science Courses and Field Trip
Program Description: Stone Lab, Ohio State's Island Campus on Lake Erie, offers six college-credit science
courses to exceptional high school students every summer. These one-week courses allow students to get
a head start on college credits while working with professors from some of Ohios best universities.
Scholarships are available to help offset costs.
In addition, one-day field trip programs at Stone Labs Aquatic Visitors Center in Put-in-Bay allow kids in
grades 5-12 a glimpse into Lake Erie science and history. More information on the Field Trip Program is at

Camp Name: Young Scholars Program Samuel DuBois Cook Summer Academy
Program Description: Samuel DuBois Cook Summer Academy: / The Ohio State University Office of
Diversity and Inclusion Young Scholars Program is hosting a one-week residential camp for rising seniors.
The camp will be held on OSUs campus July 5th-11th 2015. During the week the students will be engaged
in programming covering: the college application process, writing, mathematics and campus discovery. The
experience is designed to enhance their knowledge of OSU and introduce the students to the vast
network of resources available to support their success. This program is ONLY open to current Young
Scholars. /
