Citizens" |Challenge Brief

America needs you! Our next generation of leaders must understand the
importance of patriotism, integrity and the honor of service, both military and
public. The founding purpose of education was to prepare our nations young
people for self-government. Understanding our responsibilities and our role as
engaged citizens of the United States of America is now more important than
ever.
We have numerous veterans who risked their lives in order to maintain the
freedoms we have in our country. It is our civic duty and responsibility to
support our local veterans in need.

Many go without the basic supplies and

necessities we often take for granted.

Demonstrating the responsibility of civic participation within our school, in
what ways can we encourage students to donate toiletries and socks benefiting
the local US veterans?
Your final product is due September 24, 2015. All donations must be received
by October 9, 2015. Your final product must include:
1. a PSA (public service announcement) urging our student body to donate
to our cause.
2. a handout outlining the importance of our civic responsibilities and why
we need to support the people who have fought to protect our freedoms.
3. a school display that will encourage students to participate in their civic
duties and donate items.
