Summer 2015 New Hire Recommendation

Dear Mr. Brian Flaherty,

Because we have recently had multiple issues regarding new hires, I strongly
recommend that we adjust the shifts for new employees to incorporate proper training
time.
Last week, Simon, one of our new hires, was working the front door and let someone in
who he believed was a tenant in the building. This resulted in a breach of security and
multiple complaints from tenants. While only a small incident, this indicates that we need
to incorporate more training time for newly hired employees.

Newly hired employees heavily increase the work for other employees working

the same shift because of their lack of experience.

Untrained persons could accidentally deliver mail to the wrong apartment or allow
unauthorized personnel into the building.

Because Liam, Henry, and I have all been working as doormen for the past two
summers, I feel it would benefit everyone to have us primarily on lobby shifts until the
new hires have been properly trained. To make this a smooth transition, I would also like
to suggest shadowing new hires with experienced employees for the first week. This will
give all employees a chance to meet each other and develop proper work chemistry.
I believe that by implementing this change, it will save a lot of time and stress for the
employees, the tenants and you.
Best,
