The importance of music videos for artists

In recent years music videos have become an integral part of a band or artist.
The two main areas include: exposure and revenue. Usually music videos are
produced then released in the early period of the release cycle of a song. This
intends to drive exposure; it allows the audience (fans) different channels to
enjoy the music (TV, YouTube). Many music videos have been the stem of huge
sales through viral appeal. Interesting videos (For example: Miley Cyrus
-Wrecking Ball) lead to a larger audience watching them and boosting music
sales. As well as exposure for the artist, music videos can create revenue, this
can occur through advertising products by subtly placing them in the music
video, therefore promoting the song as well as a separate product, this process is
an example of the use of synergy.
