MTV was founded on August 1st 1981 in New York City, New York, United States.
John Sykes, Tom Freston, Robert Pittman, and Les Garland founded it. The first
words that were spoken when MTV: Music Television was aired for the first time
were Ladies and gentlemen, rock and roll and was spoken by John Lack, one of
MTVs creators. Also, one of the first ever music video to be aired on MTV was
The Buggles Video Killed the Radio Star. a lot of controversy surrounds this
topic as video killed the radio star was most definitely the first music video to
be aired on tv, but for many years before groups such as the beatles and queen
did make music videos.

These are links to websites showing the most popular music videos. However the
list varies from each site because of the voting system. However the mode is
that Michael Jackson music videos, Billie Jean seems to appear in most of the List
except for the youtube music video. The most viewed youtube video is Gangnam
style purely placed on youtube videos, this is because gangnam style was
prepared and intended to hit the big time across the world. not only that the
music is catchy and repetitive designed so that people would be interested, also
its silly as it showcases every music video cliche there is. also psy does not take
himself serious in the video which people like to see and are attracted too.

A collaboration of two or more elements that when combined together, create a

combined effect which is greater than the total impact of the elements
individually. Relating to music videos, its when two or more companies combine
to make a video, and use the video as a platform to get publicity and success.
For example, a music video may be used for one companys benefit, but they
hire a respectable and famous celebrity to gain a larger audience from their fan
base.
An Example of synergy in this form is the music video you may know my name
the official video for the James Bond film Casino Royale (2006) starring and sung
be Chris Cornel.

Viewing attitudes towards music videos have changed over the years and this is
due to the introduction to new websites such as YouTube. This means that it is
easy to access any video whether this is to do with music or not. YouTube was
created on the 14th February 2005 and since then there was been billions of
views on popular music videos. Music videos are easily accessible therefore more
people are excited to watch them and always interested in what their favourite
singer/bands music videos are like. Before the creation of YouTube music videos
were not as popular because not a lot of people could watch them easily. This
leads on to producers spending more and more money on music videos in order
to impress and attract the audience.

The purpose of a music video is to attract the audience to the song that they are
listening to. When listening to a song then people like to watch the video so it
keeps them interested. Music videos should be fun and relevant to the song so
that people can interact with the story. Also music videos give the listener a
better understanding of the song, and to entertain so they can show off other
talents such as dancing, acting etc. also they are created to invoke a reaction so
that it stays in your mind, a lot like an advert of the television, a music video is
can bring the audience to a better understanding about the song. music videos
can also broaden the horizon of an upcoming artists, it can certainly expand on
how many fans you have in your fanbase.

When calculating how much someone makes off a youtube view is vague due to
it depending what deal you have with your network, you have to be partnered
with a network to gain the monetisation feature in order to get revenuer of your
content. The normal network rate people sign a contract for in new youtube

content creators is a 60% 40% with your network of your 10% earnings of your
views; for example if you get 1,000 youtube views you would receive 10% of the
views in revenue = 1.

What are fake YouTube views, what is the impact of this?

Fake YouTube views are paid for. It is when something is viewed by a robot
instead of a person. The fake views mean that the video becomes more popular
which goes against one of YouTubes most important qualities.

The most expensive music video ever made is called Good Life and it was sung
by Kim Dotcom and directed by NikkyyHD. It aired on the 20 th January 2016 and
cost $24,000,000 that equates to around 16,798,728, this is almost 4x more
expensive than the previous leader, which were Michael Jackson and Janet
Jackson singing, Scream which cost $7,000,000, this aired in 1995 and stayed
the most expensive music video of all time until this year. although good life
music video cost considerably more than MJs 7M dollars in those day was worth
more in 1995, so it still remains the most expensive music video. this is
significant as it shows what lengths artists are willing to go to produce a music
video that shall sell their song, as now of days it seems in order to have a hit
song you need a hit video as well as.
